Illustration of model teeth and veneerIf you want a dazzling smile, free from cosmetic imperfections, veneers may be the solution. Drs. Charles and Patrick Casey will work closely with you all throughout the porcelain veneers procedure to ensure beautiful, long-lasting results. Beginning with a thorough exam, we will determine your candidacy for treatment, and make sure that veneers are the right option for your cosmetic goals. Then your dentist will perform a gentle preparatory procedure and collaborate with our partner ceramist to provide lifelike veneers that blend with your smile. To learn more about what to expect during the porcelain veneers procedure, contact Smile Montreal and schedule a consultation.

Veneers Consultation and Exam

Before recommending veneers, Dr. Charles or Dr. Patrick Casey will evaluate your smile to make sure it is a suitable treatment for you. Your oral health will be their first consideration. To receive veneers, you should have good oral health and structurally sound teeth. If you have suffered dental erosion or decay, you may not be a candidate for veneers. Your dentist will need to reshape your teeth prior to veneers placement, and there may not be enough material left to support the porcelain. For similar reasons, a large cavity may limit your candidacy for veneers. Finally, your periodontal health will play a significant role. Gum disease can compromise the longevity of your restorations. However, after proper care, you may still be able to undergo cosmetic treatment.

Your dentist will also discuss your cosmetic goals. Veneers are suitable to address:

  • Misshapen or very small teeth
  • Cracked or chipped teeth
  • Misalignment or gapped teeth
  • Dental stains, especially intrinsic discoloration

Drs. Charles and Patrick Casey can place one veneer, or they can enhance your entire smile with veneers.

Prepping Your Teeth

After determining your candidacy for treatment, your dentist will prep your teeth for veneers placement. Although veneers are incredibly thin, he will still need to slightly reshape your teeth to make room for each restoration. By removing a tiny amount of enamel, he will also create a stronger surface for the bonding agent. Our dentists use conservative techniques and will always preserve as much of your teeth as possible.

Crafting and Affixing Your Veneers

After reshaping your teeth, your dentist will take impressions. He will send them to our partner ceramist, who will use them as the lab fabricates your veneers. We work with a world-renowned technician. He will make sure that your veneers are a near-perfect match to the natural shade of your teeth, or provide you with a completely different look if you desire. Additionally, our veneers are made from advanced materials, so they will provide a lifelike sparkle and translucence. You will be provided with temporary veneers until your next appointment.

When the veneers are complete, your dentist will make sure they fit correctly and meet your cosmetic goals. Then he will coat your teeth in a bonding agent so your veneers will adhere more strongly. Finally, Dr. Charles or Dr. Patrick Casey will attach the veneers, using a dental cement to bond them in place.
