Sedation Dentistry Montreal

Smiling woman with curly brown hairIf you have been avoiding the dentist because of anxiety about treatment, you are not alone, and may be a candidate for sedation dentistry. Our practice offers Montreal patients the opportunity to complete dental procedures under controlled sedation, which is administered intravenously, or "conscious" sedation. Dr. Patrick Casey is a certified practitioner in sedation dentistry, and can ensure a painless and comfortable dental experience at our Montreal practice. You will be able to choose from several sedation dentistry techniques designed to reduce anxiety and alleviate your fears. Dental treatment is extremely important; compromised oral health can affect overall, whole body health, and significantly impact your quality of life. If you suffer from dental anxiety and are forgoing necessary treatment as a result, we want to help you. Please contact Smile Montreal today to learn how we can make treatment comfortable for you.

Conscious Sedation Dentistry

To help ease anxiety and apprehension, our practice offers conscious sedation dentistry for Montreal-area patients. Conscious sedation dentistry puts patients in a complete state of relaxation during treatment but does not render them unconscious. Patients can respond to questions from our staff but will have little memory of any interaction or treatment once they leave our office. Administered orally, roughly one to two hours before treatment, conscious sedation dentistry requires no needles, and the effects will quickly wear off after treatment! However, because the effects of sedation may last for an hour or two, you will need to have someone escort you to and from the office.

IV Sedation

More complex procedures like surgeries or periodontal treatment may require intravenous sedation dentistry. With some patients, such as those who gag or are phobic, we may use IV sedation as well, since otherwise they would not be treatable. Montreal and Westmount patients who undergo IV sedation dentistry will achieve a deeper state of relaxation and will have no memory of the procedure once they regain consciousness. IV sedation dentistry can be used for patients with severe dental phobias, patients who simply want to be "out of it" during treatment, or patients who require complex treatment and would like to consolidate several of their procedures into one, pain-free visit. Because the sedative is administered directly to the bloodstream, it is far more controllable and it takes effect in much less time. For more information about IV sedation dentistry and conscious sedation dentistry, schedule a consultation at our practice, located in the greater Montreal area. We follow the strictest guidelines to ensure a great experience and are one of the few practices in Montreal certified to offer IV sedation in our office.

Benefit from Sedation Dentistry - Contact Us Today

Dental anxiety can range from mild discomfort with the idea of seeking dental care to crippling fear. As dentists, we feel it is our duty to do everything that we can for our patients so that they receive the treatment they need. Left uncared for, the teeth can degrade over time and in extreme cases, become severely compromised or fall out. Poor oral health can not only impair functionality of the teeth and the appearance of a person's smile, but can affect whole body health. Health Canada has linked poor oral health with heart disease, respiratory disease, and diabetes. Don't risk your oral and whole body health because of dental anxiety - contact Smile Montreal today to learn more about our sedation dentistry options.
