We Provide Single-visit Dental Restorations Using the E4D CAD/CAM System

Illustration of the E4D CAD/CAM dentistry system.

Drs. Charles and Patrick Casey have a long history of providing outstanding care using the latest dental technology. The E4D CAD/CAM system at our friendly Montreal, QC, practice, allows us to create metal-free inlays, onlays, crowns, and veneers in a single visit. You do not have to endure gooey dental impressions, and you do not have to wear a temporary while your restoration is crafted at an off-site lab. If you would like to learn more about how this technology can help you experience the benefits of our cosmetic and restorative dentistry procedures faster than ever before, please contact us and schedule an appointment.

Why We Use the Latest Technology

Using the latest technology can improve every area of a dental practice, from record-keeping to complex restorative procedures. In addition to E4D CAD/CAM, Smile Montreal offers laser dentistry, digital x-rays, intraoral cameras, neuromuscular dentistry, and advanced pinhole surgery. We believe that we must stay on the cutting-edge of the advancements in our field to offer the highest level of dental care possible to you and your family.

Our E4D CAD/CAM Dental System

The E4D CAD/CAM system allows us to restore teeth from start to finish onsite, often in just one visit. CAD/CAM stands for computer aided design/computer-aided manufacturing. The system comprises three parts: a computer system, milling unit, and software. They all work together to directly fabricate all-ceramic dental restorations, which are durable and look extremely lifelike. The computer consists of the monitor and hardware that lets our doctors view and design your restoration. The milling unit refines a specially selected block of porcelain into exactly the right shape.

The E4D CAD/CAM system is similar in many ways to CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics). However, E4 CAD/CAM is newer and it uses laser scanning instead of a digital infrared camera to make digital impressions. This eliminates the need to coat your teeth with reflective powder, which is essential when using CEREC®.

Restoring Your Smile with the E4D

Because it is automated, you can expect your procedure to be simple and efficient. The first step is to numb the treatment area and prepare the tooth by removing any decayed or damaged tissue. Next, your dentist will take the scans and view the images on the monitor in 3D. Using the E4D’s software, he will virtually design the crown, inlay, onlay or veneer and send the information wirelessly to the milling unit. Within approximately 20 minutes, the restoration is created to the dentist's exact specifications. When it is complete, your doctor may stain or glaze it to blend in with your teeth. He will then place it on your tooth, check for fit, and cement it permanently in place. The last step is to polish it to a natural-looking sheen.
