Candidacy

Porcelain veneers are an excellent solution for most patients who wish to conceal minor imperfections that do not compromise oral health. However, patients with sparse enamel, severely misaligned teeth, or bruxism (involuntary teeth grinding), may not be candidates for porcelain veneers. Our doctors will conduct an in-depth evaluation of your smile to determine if veneers are right for you.

Our partner ceramist is world-renowned for creating beautiful, natural-looking porcelain veneers.

Procedure

The process of placing porcelain veneers takes place during two separate appointments with about one to two weeks of time in between. After you and your dentist discuss your goals and finalize a treatment plan, the first step is to remove a small amount of tooth enamel to make room for the veneer. For example, if your veneers are .5mm thick, the dentist will remove about .5mm of enamel. This preparation allows your veneers to lay flush with surrounding tooth surfaces for a natural appearance. During this step, your dentist will use a local anesthetic to maintain your comfort.

The next step involves taking impressions of your teeth. These impressions are used to manufacture your veneers. We will send the impressions to our partner ceramist, a world-renowned veneer technician, who will create premium veneers tailored to your exact aesthetic goals. Your veneers will look totally natural in terms of shape, size, and color.

Our ceramist provides very reliable and consistently exceptional veneers with a fast turnaround time of about two weeks. In the meantime, our team will provide you with a set of temporary veneers. We will schedule your second appointment when your permanent veneers arrive. Once we make sure your new veneers meet your expectations, we will attach them to your teeth using a strong dental adhesive. Finally, your dentist will make any fine adjustments necessary to ensure a comfortable bite.

Risks

Porcelain veneer treatment carries very few risks, but some patients can experience greater dental sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures. With proper care, veneers can last many years, but they do not last forever. In order to experience the longest-lasting benefits of this treatment, patients should avoid biting or chewing hard or sticky foods with their veneers, brush and floss twice a day, and maintain a schedule of biannual checkups.

Benefits

When you choose an experienced dentist to place your veneers, the treatment can provide many benefits. Aside from the upgraded physical appearance of your new smile, patients usually experience increased confidence and an overall happier outlook, making veneers a rewarding investment
