Relief, Improved Health, and More
Pain Relief
A tooth that requires extraction is usually severely damaged and decayed, causing extreme pain. Removal eliminates the source of the pain, allowing patients to relax and heal.Improved Oral Health
A tooth extraction can prevent infection or decay from spreading to surrounding teeth and gums. Wisdom teeth are notorious for trapping bacteria and creating oral health problems.Preparation for Orthodontics
Crowded or impacted teeth cause damage to surrounding teeth over time. Extraction creates room for surrounding teeth to gradually shift into place during orthodontic treatment.Exceptional Treatment Before, During, and After Tooth Removal
Our state-of-the-art practice in Montreal is proud to offer most dental procedures under one roof. There’s no need to worry about finding an outside doctor after tooth extraction. "Best Dentist I've Ever Been To"
Best dentist I've ever been to easy. I'm an extremely rough patient who is petrified of needles and has panic attacks. Dr. Casey AND HIS STAFF (can't stress this enough, many reviews speak of Dr. Casey but his staff is equally unbelievable and exceptional) have never judged me and have always been nothing but understanding. If you want the highest level of care possible, this is the place to go.

In the case of mild or moderate tooth decay, we may be able to restore your oral health with a dental crown or tooth-colored-filling. However, there are several instances when your condition may be too advanced to treat with a restoration successfully. You may require this procedure if you have any the following dental issues:
- A tooth severely weakened by oral trauma
- Tooth loss due to advanced periodontal disease
- Endodontic infection that can’t be eliminated with root canal therapy
- A fracture located below the gum line
- Impacted wisdom teeth
- Overcrowding
What to Expect during Treatment
What to Expect after Treatment
Bleeding
Bleeding after treatment is normal and will subside over time. Gauze is applied to the extraction site to control bleeding. We recommend changing the gauze periodically.
Medication
Over-the-counter medication can help with soreness. We may also prescribe painkillers, depending on the extent of the procedure.
Dry Socket
Do not drink anything through a straw or make a sucking motion with your mouth, as this can cause the blood clot to become dislodged. If dry socket occurs, please call our office right away.
Swelling
You may experience minor swelling, but this should subside over the next few days. Using an ice pack for a few minutes throughout the day can help calm the area.
Food
We recommend a soft food diet for a few days following treatment. Once you feel comfortable, you can start incorporating solid foods carefully back into your diet.
