Benefits of Dentures

Dentures can fix several oral health issues and improve your overall quality of life. What can treatment do for you?

Restore Multiple Types of Tooth Loss

For patients with three or more missing natural teeth in a row, or missing teeth in different areas of your smile, the dentist can treat you with a partial denture. If you are missing all of your natural teeth, we can provide complete dentures for both arches.

Address Complex Issues

If you have severely broken or infected teeth and require extractions, dentures are a great option to restore functionality to your smile. The dentist may also recommend replacing loose or shifting teeth with dentures to address oral health concerns and allow you to eat and speak normally again.

Enhance Your Appearance

Many people feel self-conscious about their missing teeth. Dentures will fill those gaps in your smile, allowing you to feel confident once again. The restorations are designed to look completely natural and will fill out a sunken facial appearance so you look much younger and healthier.

Prevent Jaw Recession

Some patients opt to secure their restorations with dental implants. Implants will prevent the jawbone recession that results from tooth loss and your restoration will never slip or slide out of place.

Another great experience! Was extremely nervous just to take impressions,... but they made me feel comfortable and took good care of me. Dr Casey, I can’t thank you enough for being a good/compassionate human. Special thanks to Alex, who knew exactly what to do when my anxiety kicked in and to Maria and Sonia who made sure I was comfortable. Such a great  staff ! I’ll never go anywhere else!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful this team is. It had been a VERY long time since I had been to the dentist and was terrified to go. The entire experience from start to finish was beyond my expectations. The entire staff are sensitive to your needs from the first phone call I made. What blew me away was there was no judgement made on how long it had been since my last trip to see a dentist or my lifestyle. The experience was fantastic and I highly recommend this to anyone who has put off their visit or needs extensive work done

How Partial Dentures  Fit into Your Smile

Partial dentures rely on small metal clasps and nearby teeth for stability.

Weighing the Benefits of Traditional vs. Implant Dentures

There are benefits to both traditional and implant-supported dentures like All-on-4® implants. Dr. Casey will carefully evaluate your smile and help you select a treatment plan that best fits your needs...

Traditional Dentures

Traditional removable dentures are typically the most affordable replacement option. Some of our patients worry that traditional dentures might not look as lifelike but advances in dentistry allow us to craft a prosthesis with a precise fit that looks and feels like your natural teeth. Fabricated from acrylic, porcelain, or zirconia, conventional dentures can dramatically improve the appearance and function of your smile. With proper care, they can last approximately five to 10 years.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Many patients prefer implant-supported dentures for their stability and durability. Not everyone is a good candidate for implants, though we can provide additional treatments to improve your eligibility. Patients need strong bone tissue in the jaw and good overall oral health to support implants. The dentist may recommend a bone graft to restore lost tissue if you have experienced jaw recession. While your prosthetics may need occasional adjustments, dental implants can last a lifetime with careful maintenance. Though an implant-supported denture generally costs more than its traditional counterpart, many patients find dental implants to be worth the investment for their convenience and superior aesthetics.

Traditional and implant-supported dentures
Traditional dentures are held in place with suction and adhesives, while implant-supported dentures are attached directly to the jaw with small posts.

Traditional Denture Treatment

If you receive a traditional denture from Smile Montreal Dentistry, the treatment process will include:

"A skilled restoration specialist will craft your custom denture using the highest quality dental materials."
"A skilled restoration specialist will craft your custom denture using the highest quality dental materials."

Initial Consultation:

During your first visit, Dr. Casey will fully assess the health of your gums and any remaining teeth. X-rays and CT scans will be taken to determine the health and density of the jawbone.

Impressions:

In order to fabricate your new prosthetics, we will take impressions of your mouth. These molds will be sent to our trusted dental lab that utilizes nSequence® technology.

Wax Model:

The lab will craft a wax model of your dentures for you to try on. Together, you and the dentist will assess the look, feel, and fit and make note of any necessary changes. Once you are happy with the model, a skilled restoration specialist will craft your final dentures using the highest quality of dental materials.

Adjustments:

When your prosthetic arrives from the lab, we will schedule you for an appointment. After fitting your denture, Dr. Casey will check your bite and make any final modifications. While you are getting used to your denture, it is normal to need occasional adjustments, which can be completed at periodic follow-up visits.
